Home To Champion Bred Beagles
Ch Bayard Zachariah
I got my first beagle in 1967, known as YOVEC BEAUFORT bred by Josie Partridge.
Beaufort was bought as a pet and won well locally at Sanction and Open Shows. I then purchased a bitch called Irresistible Of Backmuir and mated her to Beaufort. That was the start of Bayard Beagles.
Bayard Beagles was formally registered in 1969.
In 1970 the above mating produced CH BAYARD PISCES, he was the fourth tan and white male to become champion in the history of beagle male records.
In 1972 Irresistible Of Backmuir was mated to a young dog bred by myself called Bayard Garnet. They produced CH BAYARD OLGA who won 13 Challenge Certificates in her show career.
CH BAYARD OLGA was mated to CH DUFOSEE ZENETH and produced Bayard Zither and her Brother Bayard Zobra who was exported as a young dog to Germany.
In 1985 my next two champions were born, CH BAYARD RUMBA and CH BAYARD ZACHARIAH who put Bayard Beagles onto the map.
CH BAYARD ZITHER was mated to CH & AM CHAMPION PIN OAKS DYNASTY OF APPELINE - this mating produced CH BAYARD ZACHARIAH.
Zachariah was Top Sire for 5 years and produced many English and Overseas champions. I sadly lost Zac in 1997 age 12.
Ch Bayard Make Amends JW
Two more champions were born in the 80’s, both sired by Zachariah. ENG & AUST CH BAYARD RUSTLE and CH BAYARD ADAM.
Eight champions during the 90’s were all sired by Zachariah.
The years 2000 – 2009 saw 8 champions being born, which included my Breed Record Holder’s Dam CH BAYARD MAKE AMENDS JW.
At the end of 2013 Make Amends was mated to Ch NEDLAW BARBARIAN and on the 3rd January 14 CH BAYARD FORGETMEKNOT JW was born.
